Dense peat smoke greets the palate, warming and mouth-coating with a long, smoky finish that suits contemplative evenings or bold celebration. It is a heavily peated Islay single malt from Scotland bottled at 63.5% ABV, made from malted barley with pronounced phenolic character and matured in oak casks at the Bruichladdich distillery on Islay.

Flavor notes include intense peat smoke, coastal salinity and iodine, bright citrus zest, and underpinning vanilla oak with darker touches of chocolate and espresso. With smoked salmon the shared smoke and the whisky’s citrus and saline lift the fish and cut its oiliness, while with blue cheese the spirit’s power and peat complexity balance the cheese’s cream and funk for a compelling contrast.
