Tasting Notes and Characteristics:
The first sip of Brugal Añejo 750ml wraps you in a warm, sun-drenched embrace, its golden amber hue hinting at the rich flavors within. Crafted in the Dominican Republic, this rum delivers a harmonious blend of toasted oak, subtle caramel, and dried fruit notes that linger on the palate with every taste. With an alcohol by volume of 40.00%, Brugal Añejo strikes a perfect balance between smoothness and character, making it an inviting choice for both sipping neat or mixing into classic cocktails. Its depth pairs beautifully with grilled pork’s smoky richness or the bittersweet complexity of dark chocolate, elevating any meal or moment into something memorable.
Producer Information: Brugal & Co.
Brugal & Co. was founded in 1888 in Puerto Plata, on the northern coast of the Dominican Republic, by Spanish expatriate Andrés Brugal Montaner, who brought his rum-making expertise from Cuba to the Caribbean. The company’s production is deeply rooted in its Dominican heritage, with a focus on crafting dry-style rums that reflect the tropical climate and rich sugarcane fields of the region. Brugal distinguishes itself through a unique distillation process that removes much of the heavy alcohols, resulting in a cleaner spirit ideal for both sipping and mixing. Their aging warehouses benefit from Puerto Plata’s humid coastal environment, which accelerates maturation and imparts distinctive local character to their rums. Beyond their flagship aged rums like Brugal Añejo and Brugal 1888 Doblemente Añejado, they also produce limited-edition releases such as Papa Andrés and offer white rum expressions tailored for cocktails. While their primary focus remains on premium rum production within the Dominican Republic’s vibrant spirits category, Brugal has not diversified into wines or other types of liquor outside their core range of sugarcane-based spirits.
