Glengyle Distillery, situated in the heart of Campbeltown on Scotland’s Kintyre Peninsula, traces its roots to 1872 when it was founded by William Mitchell, a member of a family deeply embedded in the region’s whisky heritage. After lying dormant for much of the twentieth century, Glengyle was revived in 2004 by Hedley Wright, a descendant of the original founders and owner of nearby Springbank Distillery. The distillery is celebrated for its traditional approach to single malt Scotch whisky production, utilizing floor malting and direct-fired stills that reflect Campbeltown’s historic methods.
