Producer Information: Brotherhood Winery

Founded in 1839 in Washingtonville, New York, Brotherhood Winery stands as America’s oldest operating winery, deeply rooted in the fertile Hudson Valley. The winery’s origin traces back to French Huguenot Jean Jaques, who began cultivating native grapes and crafting sacramental wines that sustained the business through Prohibition. Brotherhood Winery is distinguished by its commitment to traditional winemaking methods blended with modern techniques, utilizing both estate-grown and locally sourced grapes from the Hudson Valley and Finger Lakes regions. Their portfolio extends beyond their signature Rieslings and Cabernet Francs to include sparkling wines made using the méthode champenoise, as well as fruit wines that highlight regional produce. Brotherhood also produces meads and specialty dessert wines, reflecting a broad yet focused approach to celebrating New York’s diverse terroir within each bottle.
